Danny Collins is a third-year PhD student in Stanford Universityʼs Oceans Department whose research focuses on coral recovery in a rapidly changing ocean. Rising ocean temperatures are driving coral bleaching around the world, threatening coral reefs and the ecosystems they support. But bleaching does not always mean the end for a coral—some are able to recover despite these stressful conditions. 

Dannyʼs research explores how healthy corals can help accelerate the recovery of bleached corals, offering a natural pathway for restoring damaged reefs. By understanding what allows corals to recover, his work could help inform new approaches to protecting and rebuilding coral reef ecosystems in the face of climate change. FREE
