Join California State Parks scientists at Asilomar State Beach on Wednesday, 9/10/2025, 11:00am—1:00pm for a satisfying midday shorebird search! 

With 219 species seen along the coastline at this biodiverse beach, Willet, Whimbrel, Godwit, and Sanderling should all make an appearance. Not sure what those weird words mean? 

Attend this beginner-friendly birding field trip to find out! All levels of birding interest welcome, and some binoculars will be available to borrow. We'll be traveling along sandy substrate and then hard-packed trails. Be ready for cool foggy weather or perhaps sunny skies - you never know on the coast.
